Are You Wearing Fall 2011's Top 10 Colors?
Each season the Pantone Color Institute unveils the fashion industry's primary color palette after a survey of designers of New York Fashion Week. The Top 10 colors for this fall 2011 appeal to a feminine, vibrant and romantic look reminiscent of glamorous Old Hollywood.
Fall 2011's palette consists of: Bamboo, Emberglow, Honeysuckle, Phlox, Cedar, Deep Teal, Coffee LIqueur, Nougat, Orchid Hush, and Quarry.
These are the chosen core colors and vary in shade from designer to designer.
Pantone is the color authority in fashion. Take a peek at how these top 10 colors have manifested across products for fall.
Bamboo + Phlox
Warm and exotic, Bamboo's mustard yellow color reminds us of the fading days of summer's sun. Intermixed with Phlox makes for a stand-out this fall on chic dresses, shoes and accessories.
Emberglow + Honeysuckle
This retro pairing of a familiar fall tone, Emberglow, and Honeysuckle makes for a playful look that's perfect for daytime and holiday gatherings. For a more classic autumn look pair Emberglow with Coffee Liqueur.
Phlox + Deep Teal
Phlox is a rich purple color associated with magic and mystique. It's no wonder that it pairs so well with Deep Teal, a color that echos the mysterious depths of the ocean. Phlox makes a statement on its own but when paired with the seasons neutrals or blues and greens, it creates a dramatic feel that is anchored in nature as seen in jewelry, clothing and accessories.
Cedar + Bamboo
Cool and versatile Cedar pairs exceptionally well with warm Bamboo because it's rooted in nature. Cedar and Deep Teal make for another natural pairing.
Honeysuckle + Coffee Liqueur
This reddish-pink color's popularity extends from spring through summer and right into fall. Being the "color of the year", it pairs well with any of the other colors in the palette. It pairs especially elegantly with neutral staples like Coffee Liqueur or Nougat.
Nougat + Emberglow
Camel-color Nougat works beautifully with other warm colors like Emberglow and Honeysuckle. Nougat pairs tastefully with other more saturated colors like Phlox, too.
Orchid Hush + Quarry
Not quite lavender and not quite grey or light blue, Orchid Hush is a unique shade with complex undertones that remind us of morning mists and mirrored reflections. Quarry is another lighter, softer medium grey color of the top 10 and also shares misty, foggy qualities. Both of these colors will pair well with any other in the palette.
